Haitian Cuisine ranked among the 95 best cuisines in the world

Haitian Cuisine is one of the 95 best cuisines in the world in the Taste Atlas Awards 2022 ranking.

The site specializing in travel and traditional cuisine, Taste Atlas, as part of the “Taste Atlas awards 2022”, announced the top 95 best cuisines in the world for this year.

With a total score of 3.93 out of 5, Haitian cuisine is in 57th position ahead of Russia and Canada. Italy takes first place while Norwegian cuisine comes in last place. Concerning our neighboring country, its cuisine does not appear in this ranking which was established after the public vote.

Indeed, Haitian cuisine brings together all of the culinary traditions of Haiti. It is comparable to Creole cuisine and close to those of the rest of the Caribbean. Rich, friendly and tasty, our cuisine attracts more and more gourmets.

This is the reason why the Taste Atlas site to describe our cuisine has drawn up a list of the most popular dishes including vegetables, chicken with nuts, Haitian pate, joumou soup, tassot, griot, tchaka among others.a

Haitian Cuisine ranked among the 95 best cuisines in the world.

This ranking is dominated by Italian cuisine. Haiti is better ranked compared to Russia and Canada which are respectively in 58th and 92nd position.

Concerning the Dominican Republic, the neighboring country is not part of this top 95 of the best cuisines in the world.

Brazilian cuisine is in twelfth position, Argentina is in 18th position in this ranking. Here are the top 10: Italy, France, Japan, Mexico, China, Morocco, Greece, India, Spain and Turkey.

Remember that Haitian joumou soup, much appreciated by foreigners, has belonged to the intangible heritage of humanity since December 2021 following the decision of UNESCO which approved the request for inscription of Joumou soup through knowledge , know-how and practices linked to it.

This request was made by the permanent delegation of Haiti to the United Nations Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) under the leadership of Ambassador Dominique Dupuy.
